How To Recognise Negative Energy

Negative energy shows up in your body. Here is how you unmask it
We all experience negative energy at some point in our lives. It can come from a variety of sources, including work, relationships, and even our own thoughts. Negative energy can manifest in different ways, and it's important to recognize the signs so that we can take steps to pause, process and redirect to a more positive frame of mind and environment.
What are the most common signs of negative
energy taking over your life?
Stress
One of the most common signs of negative energy is stress. Stress releases cortisol and excess amounts of this in the body can lead to degenerative diseases. Stress can come from a variety of sources, including work, family, and financial issues. When we're stressed, our bodies produce cortisol, a hormone that can lead to physical tension, headaches, and fatigue. If you're experiencing stress on a regular basis, it's important to find ways to manage it, such as exercise, meditation, or talking to a therapist.
Anxiety
Another sign of negative energy is anxiety. Anxiety is a feeling of unease, worry, or fear that can be triggered by a variety of factors. If untended anxiety can lead to physical symptoms such as a rapid heartbeat, sweating, and difficulty breathing. If you're experiencing anxiety on a regular basis, it's important to seek help from a mental health professional. For mild anxiety there are a number of coping mechanisms but the first starts with being conscious of your triggers and what your body is processing. The physical responses and the acceptance of the anxiety response in the body.
Physical tension
When we're stressed or anxious, we may hold tension in our bodies, such as in our shoulders or neck. These are common and easily diagnosed but there are deeper seeded positions for anxiety such as the gut, mind and energy flow. In my opinion, blocked energy is the begging of the acute response to the body struggling with external stimulus it is not processing.
Why is it happening?
Manifestation of this stress is the anxiety response, trying to tell your body it is not ok and there needs to be change. The tension and dysbiosis needs to be acknowledged and treated. If this is ignored the anxiety symptoms may abate but, the bad news is that is usually the formation of something deeper and degenerative. This tension can lead to headaches, muscle aches, and fatigue but also more chronic pains and ailments. To release physical tension, try practicing yoga, getting a massage, or doing deep breathing exercises. I talk about breathworks and the @breathwrk app as a regular go to for me and something i advocate for highly.
Negative energy can also manifest in our thoughts. If you find yourself constantly thinking negative thoughts, such as "I'm not good enough" or "I'll never be able to do this," it's important to challenge those thoughts and replace them with more positive ones. This can be done through cognitive-behavioral therapy or simply by practicing positive self-talk. But let's face it, none of that negative belief repatterning feels simple. We often end up in a catastrophizing loop where the tape is stuck on repeat and there seems no respite. The good news is, it is simply leaning to acknowledge, pause and reframe the pattern.
One of my best tools when sitting in one of these with my daughter Poppy is to ask her 'what is the worst that can happen?'. Asking her to address and acknowledge what she is worrying about. Analyse it and then take it to the worst place it can go. When we are there (together), I get her to tell me what it is like now, where the reality of the situation is sitting. She will describe the feelings and her actual presence in the place she is most worried and in what is triggering her anxiety. Nearly every time she will be able to take a step back and gain some perspective, we are a long way away from the worst case scenario and there is very little likelihood we will ever get there. perspective is so important when dealing with anxiety and blocked energy.
Negative energy can manifest in a variety of ways, including stress, anxiety, physical tension, and negative thoughts. By recognizing the signs of negative energy, we can take steps to address it and improve our overall well-being. Whether it's through exercise, therapy, or simply practicing positive self-talk, there are many ways to reduce negative energy and focus on the positive aspects of our lives.
Negative energy can also affect our overall energy and chakras, which are the energy centers in our body. When negative energy is present, it can cause blockages in our chakras, leading to physical and emotional imbalances.
For example, the root chakra, located at the base of our spine, is associated with our sense of security and stability. When this chakra is blocked, we may feel anxious or insecure. The sacral chakra, located in our lower abdomen, is associated with our creativity and sexuality. When this chakra is blocked, we may feel stuck or uninspired.
To align our chakras and release negative energy, we can practice various techniques.
Meditation is a powerful tool for releasing negative energy and bringing our chakras into alignment. By focusing on our breath and quieting our mind, we can create a sense of calm and balance in our body. We can also visualize each chakra and imagine a bright light flowing through it, clearing any blockages and restoring balance.
Yoga is another effective way to align our chakras and release negative energy. Each yoga pose is associated with a specific chakra, and by practicing these poses, we can activate and balance the corresponding chakra. For example, the tree pose is associated with the root chakra, while the cobra pose is associated with the heart chakra.
Energy healing, such as Reiki, can also help release negative energy and restore balance to our chakras. During a Reiki session, a practitioner will use their hands to channel energy into our body, helping to clear any blockages and promote healing.
Energy is one of my favourite topics. It is everywhere and seemingly nowhere at the same time. It is not tangible (most of the time) so largely it can be ignored but, what is anything of life without energy. There is no life without lifeforce and lifeforce is energy. If you are cluttered in your life you aren't giving yourself the chance to have flow in energy or clear sight. I always start with the things I can change - my surroundings then work to the sections of my life I want to get a little clearer.
